Overseas Responsibility

Country Garden has successfully invested and initiated large-scale development projects in Malaysia and Australia. Through its social responsibility with education concept, Country Garden has soared ahead even overseas.

During the initial stages of Country Garden’s Forest City Project in Malaysia, five primary schools were selected and adopted. If these schools need any support or help, they can directly write to us, while appropriate help will also be offered by Forest City.

To date, Forest City has donated more than MYR1 million to five primary schools, for constructing school buildings, and procuring teaching equipment and students’ necessities, and has helped partner with local universities in Johor Bahru to provide training camps for students. Data provided from various schools shows that since Forest City adopted these five primary schools, it has positively affected the students’ academic. In particular, students in the middle grade have greatly improved their academic performance during their final examination.
The five adopted primary schools are:

Sekolah Kebangsaan Morni Pok
Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjong Adang
Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Kupang
Sekolah Kebangsaan Tiram Duku
Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendas Laut

Apart from the five adopted schools in Tanjung Kupang, Forest City also offers financial aid to the Foundation from Technological University of Malaysia (UTM). The Foundation mainly aims to provide scholarship for poverty-stricken students or students who need financial help to finish their university education. The Foundation was established on March 17th, 2016, and later the Sultan of Johor took on the role of the Foundation’s Chairman.

Apart from Chinese regions, the largest global Foon Yew High School for Chinese is located in Johor Bahru. Foon Yew High School is a private school in Malaysia. All its expenditures are taken care of through donations by local people. As the student population in Foon Yew High School has increased regularly, it has now exceeded the existing school buildings’ capacity. Since the school is raising funds, Forest City has made a donation to the school to increase the number of school buildings, so that students can have a better educational environment.

Along with education, Forest City also contributes towards ecological environmental protection. We have collaborated with a local biotechnology institution in Johor to cultivate a sea horse farm. After several months of efforts, we were able to breed little sea horses in the Science Hall, and they were set free in the sea horse conservation area in Johor after they reached maturity. For this momentous occasion, His Highness the Sultan of Johor, visited the site in person and set the sea horses free. This event created an awareness among people about Johor once again, and strengthened their resolution to protect animals.
